Geoff started 3rd in the 1988 Miller High Life 500 and led 91 of the 200 laps as he cruised to an 8 second victory at the Pocono Int'l Raceway.
Coasting on the final lap to conserve fuel, Geoff said later "Waddell (crew chief Waddell
Wilson) kept telling me to slow down, so I did. I really didn't know if
we could make it."
The Chevy Monte Carlo ran out of gas on the cool-down lap after taking the checkered flag.
